My Forecast For Academy Awards 2017


The below predictions are made according to my knowledge and information i gathered. If u have any suggestions and comments do share with me. Also not forget to mention me if i left out any categories or movies.


lBEST PICTURE :

Winner : La La Land
Strong Contender : Moonlight
Surprise/Shocker : Manchester by the sea

It is all clear that La La Land is going to win thought Moonlight will try to give it’s best shot. The Surprise winner may be Manchester by the sea.

lBEST ACTOR :

Winner : Casey Affleck (Manchester by the sea)
Strong Contender : Ryan Gosling (La La Land)
Surprise/Shocker : Denzel Washington (Fences)

In case of Best actor it is tough to bet on it as Casey and Ryan go neck to neck. And in Surprise category I go towards Denzel Washington.

Winner : Emma Stone (La La Land)
Strong Contender : Natalie Portman (Jackie)

In Best actress Category Emma stone is going to win. Next best shot is Natalie Portman for her role in the Drama Jackie.

Winner : Damien Chazelle (La La Land)
Strong Contender : Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester by the Sea)
Surprise/Shocker : Barry Jenkins (Moonlight)

For the Best Director award Damien Chazelle of La La Land is the first contender along with Kenneth lonergan as second option. Barry Jenkins Might become the Shocker.

Winner : Mahershala Ali (Moonlight)
Strong Contender : Kevin Costner (Hidden Figures)
Surprise/Shocker : Dev Patel (Lion)

Mahershala Ali is racing ahead for supporting actor with 9/3 odds. The next strong contender is Kevin Costner for Hidden Figures. For Shock/Surprise I bet for Dev Patel with 6/1 odds.

Nicole Kidman is going to edge over viola Davis to win the Best supporting actress award. I will be Surprised if Ocatavia Spencer get her chance to win.

Strong Contender : Lion (Dustin O’Halloran, Hauschka)
Surprise/Shocker : The BFG (John Williams)

Best original Score winner is going to be Justin Hurwitz for is enthralling Jazz music for La La Land. For Surprise Section I bet for The BFG.

Winner : La La Land (Damien Chazelle)
Strong Contender : Manchester by the Sea (Kenneth Lonergan)
Surprise/Shocker : The Lobster (Efthymis Filippou, Yorgos Lanthimos)

La La Land is comfortably going to win Best Original Screenplay even though it faces tough fight from Manchester by the sea. The Lobster May pop up and might upset everyone.

Winner : Arrival (Eric Heisserer)
Strong Contender : Hidden Figures (Theodore Melfi, Allison Schroeder)
Surprise/Shocker : Lion (Luke Davies)

It is one to one battle between Arrival and Hidden Figures. Drama Film Lion can also be considered to have Chance in clinching the adapted screenplay section.

lBEST CINEMATOGRAPHY :

Winner : Arrival (Bradford Young)
Strong Contender : La La Land (Linus Sandgren)
Surprise/Shocker : Moonlight (James Laxton)

Arrival can get it’s hand over Best cinematography award if it does not lose to Musical La La Land. Moonlight’s win can surprise us.




lBEST EDITING :

Winner : Arrival (Joe Walker)
Strong Contender : La La Land (Tom Cross) / Hacksaw Ridge (John Gilbert)
Surprise/Shocker : Hell or High Water (Jake Roberts)


Joe Walker of Arrival can walk away with glory if he wins threefold battle with La La Land, Hacksaw Ridge. Even Jake Roberts of Hell High Water can have Chance of winning.





lBEST MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING :

Winner : Star Trek Beyond (S. Anne Carroll, Joel Harlow)
Strong Contender : A Man Called Ove (Love Larson, Eva Con Bahr)
Surprise/Shocker : Florence Foster Jenkins (Daniel Phillips, J. Roy Helland)

For Best Makeup and Hair styling Star Trek Beyond can have the Last laugh.




lBEST COSTUME DESIGN :

Winner : Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Colleen Atwood)
Strong Contender : La La Land (Mary Zophres)
Surprise/Shocker : Jackie (Madeline Fontaine)

Best Costume Design award is going to be in the hands of Fantasy film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. La La Land can also has a chance of winning. Biographical Drama film Jackie can be the surprise win in this category. 




lBEST ANIMATED FEATURE  :

Winner : Zootopia (Walt Disney Studios)
Strong Contender : Moana (Walt Disney Studios)
Surprise/Shocker : Kubo and the Two Strings (Laika/Focus Features)

In Animated Feature Walt Disney Studios again proved it’s Supremacy by having to films Zootopia and Moana in tight race. It will be a pleasant surprise for me if Kubo win this category.

lBEST VFX  :

Winner : The Jungle Book (Robert Legato, Andrew R. Jones, Adam Valdez, Dan Lemmon)
Strong Contender : Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (John Knoll, Mohen Leo, Hal Hickel, Neil Corbould)
Surprise/Shocker : Deepwater Horizon (Craig Hammack, Burt Dalton, Jason Snell, Jason Billington)

Best visual effects section is tighter than all above categories with a hell of movies contending but I pick only 3. Jungle book is my best option followed by Rouge one. Again Deepwater Horizon may surprise us.





lBEST FORIEGN FILM :

Winner : Land of Mine (Denmark, Martin Zandvliet)
Strong Contender : A Man Called Ove (Sweden; Hannes Holm)
Surprise/Shocker : The Salesman (Iran Asghar Farhadi)

Directed by Martin Zandvliet Land of Mine can will Best foriegn film Category.

JUSTICE LEAGUE TRAILER REVIEW

Justice League Official Poster Flash: 'So, what is your superpower again?' Batman: I'm RICH After listening to this dialogue in Justice League Trailer I can finally say that DCEU is changing. The trailer is the perfect collaboration of DC Comics and Warner Bros where it brings out certain raw and dark aura. While there's no glimpse or appearance from the Man of Steel at all. Every one is good in their characters. Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra miller perfectly fit for their.  Jason Momoa is hottest Aquaman  i've ever seen The soundtrack by the White Stripes' "The Hardest Button to Button" and a hard-rock rendition of the Beatles' "Come Together." perfectly In-Sync with the Cut. I am dying to watch it in 3D Check Out the Trailer below , P.S: I would like to ask the VFX team kindly to re-check the design of Cyborg as it literally reduced my interest by 50%.

PASSENGERS REVIEW

PASSENGERS REVIEW BOTTOM LINE : Visually attractive film over run by cliché script Passengers a space drama directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Jon Spaihts. Star cast includes Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt, Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne and Andy García. The story is all about a spaceship called Avalon which is on it’s course of journey towards Homestead 2 and two passengers who woke up 90 years earlier. When it comes to performances Chris pratt nails his character with perfection but it is Jennifer Lawrence who steals the thunder with her expressions and beauty. Michael sheen has displayed impeccable timing as Android bartender. The 3d Effects are good for that provided budget but it is the direction that spoils the game as I disconnected with the film during last 15 mins.
