"Welcome to the End", these words from Chuck literally jump-started the final apocalypse in finale of season 14. After Jack has freed himself from the Ma’lak box, he fires Sam, Dean, and Castiel over the room before escaping away. The Winchester brothers had different opinions on Jack as, Dean calls him a Monster and Sam somewhat disagrees with him, and Castiel is on a mission to prove that Jack needs to be saved.
Fed up with lies, Jack utters “stop lying” which sends the world into chaos including an office erupts into a battlefield, we get another reference to Crowley attaching to the current political scenario. and Cas gets the response for his distress call to god. An old friend Chuck (Rob Benedict at his best) / God returns with a solution, A gun named Equalizer with only one back drop called balance which means whoever fires it will also perish. He snaps his fingers(Oops Sorry Thanos) to return the world into the normal state. Dean Winchester nominates himself to use the Nephilim killing weapon.
Castiel meets Jack at the cemetery, where Jack finally admits that he can't feel anything, and all he was trying to do the right thing and be good. But Dean already found them with the Gun in his hand. Back at the bunker Sam gets interesting details from Chuck which include Supernatural Multiverse (Maybe we are going to get a Spin-off for sure). He also mentions that “You and your brother, of all the Sams and Deans in the multiverse, you’re my favorite". Why? Because they’re so interesting.
Sam runs to the Cemetry to stop Dean from Killing Jack, Jack explains the older Winchester brother, he understood that he was a monster and he should be stopped. Sam notifies that Chuck is savoring the act until Dean throws the gun on the ground and Chuck steps in. This isn’t how the story’s supposed to end, the writer says. This is the father killing the son the Abraham and Isaac. Meanwhile Sam recognizes that Chuck’s been playing them their entire lives. This is his favorite show, after all.
Chuck tells Dean that if he picks up the gun and pulls the trigger, he’ll bring Mary back, but Dean disagrees with him by saying. “My mom was my hero and I miss her, and I will miss her every second of my life but she would not want this,” he says. This isn’t a tale to Sam and Dean. It’s their lives. “So God or no God, you can go to Hell,” Dean replies angrily, to which Chuck smirks and snaps his fingers once again and burns Jack. Sam counters and shoots Chuck with the gun.
“Story’s over. Welcome to the end,” announces, pissed Chuck throwing the cemetery into darkness and unleashing souls from Hell, including a few well-known names like the Woman in White and Bloody Mary.
As the finale ends, Dean, Sam, and Cas discover themselves surrounded by the walking dead (really???), while Jack wakes up in the Empty, with Billie tells him that they should talk.
After Season 10 Finale, Supernatural writers started delivering one after the other exceptional ones, for me this finale ties in the second place after Season 5 (which always remains first) and Season 1.
Liked :
1. Chuck(I wanted to punch his pretty face),
2. The office sequences, where Dean asking about devil's son,
3. Final Cliffhanger (Boy! I am excited).
4. Donald Trump reference
Disliked :
1. The opening sequence of the episode with Jack escaping disappointed me.( the way they ended the previous episode raised my expectations)
On whole, one of the best finales from the Team Supernatural in recent times. I know the next season is the final one, but I am excited what they have in the bunker for fans like us.
My Rating : ****
