Supernatural Season 15 Episode 1 "Back and To The Future" Review

The Winchester Brothers verifying their odds against the apocalypse

"Welcome to the End", when Chuck A.K.A God announces the apocalypse and our Team Free Will struck amidst of a Zombie army, it took like two days for me to get out of that effect. It looks like this time it might take a week to recover. So get this (Like Sammy), this is the last season premiere of Supernatural, and the team delivered one of the best in recent times. It is better than the Season 14 and 13 premieres in terms of creating the horror, and tense factors. But I find Amara's apocalypse in season 11 premiere stands out to score the merit.

With the fabulous Bob Seger’s “The Famous Final Scene” playing in the backdrop, The Winchester brothers and their angel buddy are besieged by the afresh possessed bodies of the fallen. They had to lock themselves up along with the body of Jack in a tomb to escape from the dead. But no vessel stays empty forever in Supernatural, as Jack's body was possessed but snarky yet sassy demon Belphegor. This version of Jack will get instant acceptance from hardcore fans like me. He even referred to Crowley Jr, which I find a little difficult to accept.

Even the Winchester brothers had their issues to fight. Dean is still angry with Castiel and finds hard to accept the Death of his Kid Jack. Sam Winchester still trying to heal from the wound, when he tried to Shoot the god. In the case of Ghosts, we find some familiar faces like Bloody Mary, The Killer Clown, and also Women in White. The Episode ends with the dialogue "We got Work to do", which actually matches their current situation, As both Sam and Dean Winchesters were against 2 to 3 billion souls.

Good:
  1. Jack Kline/Belphegor 2.0
  2. The whole escape thing from the Graveyard,
  3. Dean Winchester referring Jack as his kid,
  4. Sam and Castiel's fight against the ghosts.

Bad:
  1. No news about Chuck or Michael or Adam,
  2. Woman in white is not that scary when compared to the pilot.

An interesting takeaway from the episode "Back And To The Future" is when Cas tries to heal Sam from the wound of Equalizer, Sam had flashes, in which we get a glimpse of Samifier? and I am sure that he is gonna fight Michael who occupies Dean's vessel.

As Sam proceeds to close the trunk, we get a flash of Pilot episode's Sam and Dean Winchester, which made me scream. The show has come a long way till here, and I am excited how they are gonna end their battle against the Big bad Chuck.

My Rating : ****

Comments

  1. I have to agree, it was exactly what we would want to see from Sam and Dean. Somehow, it sets the tone for the rest of the season, a season where each and every episode will count towards an amazing and explosive end.
